GARMIN 010 00460 00 Fishfinder 140

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

GARMIN 010-00460-00 FISHFINDER 140 GPS Marine. When seeing your targets clearly is the goal, the Fishfinder 140 is the tool. With 240 vertical pixels on a four level grayscale display, you get better separation and contrast. Like all of the new Garmin fishfinders, the 140 features Ultrascroll for fast screen updates, which is ideal for speed applications. The 140 has minimal buttons and intuitive operations. You do not even have to leave the sonar screen to change settings, thanks to a convenient adjustment bar. AutoGain, as well as user adjustable gain, is also standard on all of Garmins new fishfinders.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great depth finder for shallow water
I use this primarily as a depth finder, instead of a fishfinder. I got it because Garmin claims it reads depth accurately in shallow water. I am really pleased with it. It is very accurate and doesn’t flake out like an older Piranha Max unit I had previously. Also a great price.

5 Stars Nice inexpensive dephfinder
I purchased this unit as a secondary dephfinder on my fishing boat. I was curious to see how it would compare to my other dephfinder that cost twice as much (not a Garmin). The Garmin works just as well, and in some cases better than the other brand that cost more. I am very satisfied with this unit especially considering the price. This one even tells me the depth when I’m motoring full speed across the water (20 mph). The more expensive one on my boat does not tell me depth at full speed. This is a great unit for the money.

4 Stars Excellent value
Very good value for money. Great entry level unit. Does all I need.

5 Stars Garmin 140 fishfinder
A good instrument at a good price. It gives me the basics (depth and fishfinder). I have a good GPS, so I didn’t need that function.

4 Stars Great for the price, but…
I could give it 5 stars for the graph itself, but I could give it 0 for the universal Transom/Trollmotor transducer. It hangs down low under the trolling motor housing in harms way. (Go to Garmin’s website and download the owner’s manual to view how the transducer mounts to the motor).I broke it first time out. I fabricated a mounting bracket from aluminum plate. So far so good. This product should be available with a puck style transducer just for mounting to trolling motor.
